NEW SYSTEM FOR STRÆTÓ

Back in 2005, Strætó decided to modernise their transport service. One important step was to purchase a modern IT tool for planning and operation. Strætó chose Trapeze System for planning as well as operations management and hired Einar Kristjánsson to implement the system.

Asking Einar Kristjánsson, Head of planning and services, of their experiences with Trapeze System and the results, his response is very positive. The target for implementing a new system was to achieve resource planning savings of 10-12%. The plans which Einar Kristjánsson set up showed savings of more than 25%.

One very significant benefit of the Trapeze System is the improved working processes and working with a system that stores all data in one shared database. A minor change in the timetable is automatically reflected throughout the whole system from planning to operation.

Today, Strætó and the operators has 98 busses and about 240 full-time employees in operation. Strætó operates about half of the transport in the Reykjavik area. Approx. 7.8 million passengers are transported yearly.
